Taking Precautions During Excessive Heat

The risk of heat-related illnesses increases during periods of extreme temperatures (90s+) and high humidity. It is important to take adequate precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated
Minimize exposure to the sun
Check on your relatives and neighbors. Seniors are more vulnerable to heat-related illness
Reduce or reschedule strenuous activities until a cooler part of the day
Wear lightweight, loose fitting clothing
Never leave people or pets in a closed car

If air conditioning is not available in your home, consider going to one of the 10 library branches, shopping centers, or other publicly available spaces in the County to seek relief during the heat of the day.
